Spectacular 6 hours trekking in El Chalten area that will satisfy the most demanding hikers as it is a one direction trekking from the Blanco River located in Estancia El Pilar to El Chalten, passing next to the Piedras Blancas Glacier, Poincenot Camp, Mount Fitz Roy and Capri Lagoon.
The tour begins from your hotel in El Calafate at 7:30 am to then head towards the legendary Route 40. This route sorrounds the Argentinian Lake, crosses the Santa Cruz and La Leona Rivers. And you can arrive (after 1 hour 15 minutes) at the old Hotel La Leona (almost a museum of Route 40), where you can have coffee with homemade cakes. Afterwards, you continue along the Lake Viedma, having the Andes in the background and, before reaching El Chalten, you will stop at the viewpoint of the Viedma Glacier. From here you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic of the Viedma Glacier, the Andes and the flagship Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. After 3 hours on the bus and 220 km traveled, you will get to the mountain village of El Chalten.
The first activity is to visit the National Park Interpretation Centre. Then, from the base in the Pudu Lodge, the mountain guide will give you a brief description of the program and check the clothing and your physical condition to begin the ride vehicle by the valley of the Las Vueltas River to get to Estancia El Pilar located next to the Blanco River.
From the estancia, the 6 hours guided trekking starts and it includes a hot lunch once you reach the Capri Lagoon. This option is physically demanding and is only recommended for people in good shape who wear appropriate clothing for walking in the mountains.
At 18:00 you return to El Chalten to travel back to El Calafate afterwards.
